Dr. Ulrich Kissling receives the AGMA Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Ulrich Kissling receives the AGMA Lifetime Achievement Award, bestowed upon rare individuals who have given years of service to AGMA and the global gear industry.

Dr. Kissling, born 1952 in Switzerland, studied Mechanical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Zurich (ETH). From 1981-2001, he worked as Gearbox Designer, Technical Director and Managing Director of Kissling Co., a gearbox company located in Zurich, Switzerland, focusing on planetary, turbo and bevel-helical gearboxes for industrial applications. In this role, he started writing his own software for designing and rating gearbox components, mainly gears, shafts and bearings. In 1985 he decided to sell this software under the name “KISSsoft”. In 1998, Dr. Kissling founded KISSsoft AG, which is now part of Gleason Corporation. Dr. Kissling has published over 40 works on calculation procedures for transmission components and has given presentations at countless gear symposiums including the AGMA Fall Technical Meeting.

His practical experience and theoretical know-how, complemented by a passion and dedication to the world of gearing has put him in a position where he has shaped KISSsoft into one of the most widely used gear design software products globally.
