Genesis 280H Hobbing Machine - Now Made in India

Gleason’s state-of-the-art Genesis 280H Hobbing Machine is coming to India! Based on Gleason’s global footprint and following its sourcing strategy the first machines are being delivered to Indian customers.

The Genesis 280H represents Gleason’s new Gear Hobbing Machine for the cutting of spur and helical gears up to module 6, workpiece outside diameter 280 mm and shaft length 380 mm. With its extensive working range, the 280H covers not only the full range of automotive applications including final drive ring gears and shafts, light truck gears, as well as job shop tasks and a wide range of industrial applications.

The 280H’s gear driven hob head with up to 2,000 rpm and several hob clamping alternatives will make sure to use the most productive process for the different use cases and will provide enough potential for future tool developments. For high volume production the dry machine execution, using G50, G60, G90 or carbide hobs is the perfect fit. Chip evacuation options make sure dry hot chips are not interfering with the highly productive cutting process. For the production of smaller batches and higher versatility, wet cutting with magnetic chip conveyor is available. The CNC tailstock supports clamping of disc- and shaft-type workpieces, using the well proven, state-of-the-art Quik-Flex® Plus Workholding System.

A high-speed ring loader will set the benchmark for chip-to-chip times on a single spindle machine. While short cycle times are mandatory, changeover procedures have been simplified and streamlined, including the latest GEMS® HMI machine operating software, making setup and changeover easy and fast. The GEMS HMI, installed on current Siemens control technology, features many new process options and guides the operator intuitively through the workflows of the machine.

Gleason provides a complete manufacturing system for gear cutting, including machine, hobs, workholding, smart automation, as well as local support for application development and technology support if required, for a worry-free and highly productive gear manufacturing system.

The Genesis 280H series is now built in Germany and India to provide domestic and global customers with a state-of-the-art gear hobbing machine. Pardeep Aggarwal, General Manager of Gleason Works India is highly pleased: “the 280H, made in India, gives our Indian customers access to a great machine, supported by Gleason India’s local service team with excellent knowhow”.
