Functional Gauges

Gleason is a leading supplier of functional gauges, including involute, serrated, straight (parallel-sided), tapered, spur and helical gauges, as well as spline and tapered spline master gears. The portfolio also includes variable spline gauges, go and no-go rings and plugs, tapered master plugs, variable spline indicator rings and plugs, setting and calibration masters. In addition, we offer design engineering services along with options for calibration, coatings, and setting masters.

Variable Spline Indicator Gauges

Variable spline indicator gauges enable manufacturers to control the fit between mating splines. Numerical values can be obtained for effective and actual tooth thickness or space width. These gauges are available in a large variety of body styles and are highly accurate and repeatable. A digital indicator is available with a serial port that allows the user to download data to a variety of SPC packages.

Electronic Gauges

Gleason electronic precision gauges are designed to evaluate mechanical components such as gears, shafts and transmission parts. Electronic sensors and signal processing detect dimensional variations, runout, and functional errors with high accuracy, supporting quality control in aerospace, automotive and industrial application. Electronic gauge types include runout gauges, runout, concentricity and roundness gauges, diameter and bore gauges, single flank gear testing gauges and NVH analysis gauges.

Wireless Electronic Gauges

Wireless electronic gauges allow measurement data to be transmitted in real time without the need for physical cables. The wireless functionality improves flexibility on the shop floor, reduces cable wear and installation complexity, and enables easier integration into automated or flexible test setups. It is particularly useful for rotating assemblies, complex fixtures, or high-speed production environments.

Gleason provides complete turnkey test workstations designed for precision gauging using both manual and electronic gauges in production and laboratory environments. These integrated systems combine gauges, fixtures, mechanical structures, data acquisition, and control software into a fully engineered measurement workstation, enabling accurate inspection of gears, shafts, housings, and other precision components.

Automated Gauging

Industrial robots and cobots can support gauging processes for fully automatic measurements on all prismatic applications or cast-iron parts. Any type of hand gauge can be designed for automatic handling, allowing a high level of adaptability. In addition, systems provide adaptable part fixturing and integrated gauge changes. Gleason's Closed Loop feedback system ensures that measurement data can be used directly for machine compensation.
