In other words, if the edge radius and point width of the tool are chosen small
within the acceptable limits, then the Uniflex process has a flexibility which is
higher than any other traditional gear manufacturing process with a given tool
geometry. In order to eliminate disadvantages of root fillets with a fin in the
center due to a small grinding wheel point, the Uniflex process features a fin
removal cycle.
30.13 Summary
The Uniflex gear cutting method is a special version of the UNIMILL™ pro-
cess. Only a certain set of input data defines the Uniflex method. The software
used on the cutting or grinding machine is UNIMILL as it also can be used for
prototyping all kinds of bevel gears using endmills or disk cutters. Uniflex uses
