Figure 9: Roll rates and feed rates
The heel roll rate (Figure 9) is the speed of the machine axes when changing
at the heel from one roll position to the next in order to prepare for the reverse
swing. In case of very small or no heel overtravel (and no additional withdraw
heel), 200mm/min are recommended. In case of sufficient overtravel, which
completely frees the cutter of grinding wheel up, 600mm/min to 1200mm/min
can be used.
The toe roll rate is the speed of the machine axes when changing at the toe
from one roll position to the next in order to prepare for the next forward swing.
In case of very small or no toe overtravel (and no additional withdraw toe),
200mm/min are recommended. In case of sufficient overtravel, which com-
pletely frees the cutter of grinding wheel up, 600mm/min to 1200mm/min can
be used.
Uniflex performs slow, moderate and rapid moves. The machine uses the slow
move feed rate if cutting contact still exists (500mm/min is recommended).
Moderate move feed rate is used for short distances between two cutting
contacts (1000mm/min is recommended).
The rapid move feed rate is used to bridge long distances when no cutting
contact can occur. The recommended default is 5000mm/min.
