The wheel direction controls the direction or tool rotation. In case of Uniflex
                                         ®
cutting with Coniflex Plus cutters the direction CW has to be selected.

Also, the tool outer diameter is as shown in Figure 34 (left side).

The input item inner slot width is optional. The software uses this value to
make recommendations regarding the optimal tool dimensions.

Tool top width in case of a Coniflex Plus cutter is the top width in the blade
                                                            ®
grinding summary. It is the equivalent value in case of a grinding wheel. This
input is used by the software to calculate the precise compensation of the cut-
ter reference height as it is obtained in the measurement according to Figure
                   35.

Tool edge radius is also required in order to calculate the error compensation
of the cutter reference height measurement shown in Figure 35.

The tool inclination angle is also called the flare angle. The blade slots in a
                            ®
Coniflex Plus cutter are inclined by 18°. The flare angle is defined as 90°-18°
= 72°. The summary input value therefore is 72° in all cases of Uniflex cutting
                   and grinding.

Tool Included angles are measured over both sides, the pressure angle side
and the clearance side. A cutter head built according to the summary in Figure
8 has an included tool angle of 36°.

The tool RPM is calculated with V = 250m/min to achieve the ideal cutting sur-
                   face speed:
                                       RPM = 1000▪V[m/min]/(D[mm]▪p )  [1/min]

First swing rate is the swing speed of the cutter in face width direction in the
top third of the tooth. For cutting and grinding 800mm/min is recommended.

Second swing rate is the swing speed of the cutter in face width direction in
the middle third of the tooth. For cutting and grinding a swing rate of
1200mm/min is recommended because the chip load reduces from the start
roll to the center of roll.

Third swing rate is the swing speed of the cutter in face width direction in the
lower third of the tooth which meets the root. For cutting and grinding
2000mm/min is recommended due to the very light chip load in the flank-root
region. The swing rate for the upper machining position has the addition side 2
                   in the summary screen.
