Figure 12: Profile relief with smooth blend to working profile

                                                                              ®
In addition to the kinematic advantages of the Coniflex Pro pitch line generating
principle, there is an advantage concerning the generating marks. In Figure 13 the
direction of the generating marks is shown with black lines which are extended to
the crossing point of the mating gears. Only in case of generating on the pitch line,
the central generating mark is aligned with the pitch line and points at the crossing
point of pinion and gear. In this case, if the generating marks above and below the
pitch line are extended to the center of the gear, they will also cross with the axis
crossing point. This principle is novel for the pitch line generating principle and
assures that tip relief is face angle oriented and increases proportionally from toe
                                     ®
to heel. Coniflex Pro tip relief automatically accounts for higher deflection at the
heel which is consistent with the typical contact movement under load. An
exaggerated tip relief is drawn in red in Figure 13. It clearly shows the increase of
the relief proportionally to the distance from the crossing point.
