28 Building and Trueing of Pentac Plus-RT Cutters

28.1 How to Build a Trueable Pentac Cutter Head?
Radially trueable cutter heads are all Pentac cutters with the extension “RT”.
Radially trueable cutters are built to height and secured with the front screw,
which is the clamp screw. The second screw (Figure 1) is used to radially po-
sition the blade at the blade reference point, which is on the cutting edge, from
the tip down by the blade dedendum. The target is a cutter head with all blades
axially at the same height, and with all inside blades reference points at a
common radius and also with all outside blade reference points at a common
radius.

This manual explains the building and truing procedure on the Phoenix CB
cutter build machine. The following procedure is especially written to build
Pentac-RT cutters with self-locking truing screws, as shown in Figure 2.
