For a more extreme vector definition, the Z-axis feed angle can be increased by
4°, if no cleanup problems are encountered. Also, a reduction of the Z-axis feed
angle is possible in order to move the major chip load from the outside blade to-
wards the inside blade. If the feed vector should be aligned with the outside blade
cutting edge, then Z-axis feed angle = – a OutsideBlade can be entered in the machine
summary [2].
24.6 Coniflex Vector Feed
Coniflex uses a peripheral cutter head with cutting conditions which are different
compared to face hobbing and face milling. The major difference is that Coniflex
Plus cutters have only one kind of blade, with cutting edges on the front of the cut-
ter. The red ellipse in Figure 5 symbolizes a Coniflex cutter, where the cutting
edges are exposed to the front of the cone.
