Case 2 - Coniflex:
When face widths are large the curved Coniflex cutter outline causes in addi-
tion to the curved root an hourglass shaped root width. In this case the root
might show a fin at toe and heel, which cannot be removed via fin removal. It is
also exhibited in case 2 that mutilation of the opposite flanks can occur. Also
in case 2, the Uniflex cutter or grinding wheel diameter is either 9” or 15”
where the design calculation of a straight bevel gear uses a large virtual cut-
ter with a diameter of 2000mm or larger.

                   Case 3 - Coniflex:
The machine limits in vertical axes direction are exceeded e.g. in case of
large miter Coniflex gears. If the original cutter diameter is 15”, a smaller 9”
                            ®
Coniflex Plus cutter can be selected, which will in the Uniflex process follow
the path of the original 15” cutter and machine the same flank forms the larger
cutter would machine (without exceeding the machine limits).

                   Case 4 - Coniface:
The Uniflex process is used in order to machine a straight root line. The
Uniflex cutter or grinding wheel diameter is either 9” or 15”, where the design
calculation of a face gear uses a large virtual cutter, with a diameter of
                   2000mm or larger.

                   Case 5 - Coniface:
When face widths are large the curved Coniflex cutter outline causes in addi-
tion to the curved root an hourglass shaped root width. In this case the root
might show a fin at toe and heel, which cannot be removed via fin removal. It is
also exhibited in case 5 that mutilation of the opposite flanks can occur. Also
in case 5, the Uniflex cutter or grinding wheel diameter is either 9” or 15”
where the design calculation of a face gear uses a large virtual cutter with a
                   diameter of 2000mm or larger.

                   Case 6 - Coniface:
The machine limits in vertical axes direction are exceeded in case of e.g.
large angular Coniface gears. If the original cutter diameter is 15”, a smaller
                               ®
9” Coniflex Plus cutter can be selected, which will in the Uniflex process follow
the path of the original 15” cutter and machine the same flank forms the larger
cutter would machine (without exceeding the machine limits).
