                   30.2  The Uniflex Principle

                   Similar to the Unimill principle of spiral bevel gear cutting with a flared cutter as
                   shown in Figure 1, in Uniflex a flared tool follows the much larger peripheral
                   contour  of  a  virtual  cutter  or  grinding  wheel.  The  principle  is  graphically  ex-
                   plained in Figure 2. In the example in Figure 2, a design cutter with 2000mm
                   radius was used in order to achieve a straight root line and/or to avoid hour-
                   glass shaped root fillets and mutilations of the opposite flanks. The cutter or
                   grinding wheel used in Uniflex has a 190mm radius which corresponds to a 15”
                   tool diameter.
