with 7.42° Blade Slot Tilt Angle, then the Top Rake Angle will be 7.42°. The
right side blade in Figure 8 with a Blade Hook Angle of 4° if it is mounted in
the same cutter head will show a Top Rake Angle of:
Top Rake Angle = Blade Slot Tilt Angle – Blade Hook Angle
= 7.42° – 4° = 3.42°
Figure 10: Blade hook angle limits of stick blades
(shown in the X-Y-plane defined in Figure 9)
Two-face ground blades are pre-raked as shown to the left in Figure 11. Be-
cause the front face is never touched by a grinding operation, most two-face
ground blades show a permanent coating with TiN or TiAlN, The Top Rake
Angle of two-face blades is always identical to the Blade Slot Tilt Angle. Ad-
ditional technological values are:
Relief Angle Pressure Angle Side
Relief Angle Clearance Side
Top Relief Angle
Top Slope Angle
Edge Radius Pressure Angle Side
Edge Radius Clearance Side
Blade Side Rake Angle
Blade Top Width
