Gleason has introduced a next-generation GP300S/ES CNC Shaping Machine featuring a revolutionary new design that both improves cycle times and delivers long-sought flexibility for shaping spur and helical gears (internal and external) up to 300 mm in diameter.
The GP200S/ES Shaper is one of Gleason’s new generation of GP series of machines. It can be equipped with Gleason’s backlash-free, direct-drive mechanical shaping head (‘S’ model) and, for maximum flexibility and the production of helical gears, an electronic helical guide (‘ES’ model). The ES model’s electronic helical guide uses powerful Seimens 840D CNC and proprietary software to superimpose the additional rotational motion on the cutter spindle necessary to generate any required helix angle. As a result, the high procurement costs, and delivery and changeover time, associated with mechanical helical guides generally used by conventional shaping machines is eliminated.
The GP300S/ES Shaper helps eliminate costly non-productive time too, by using a very fast ring loader device to automate workpiece load/unload. The loader features open-close style tooling and servo actuation to assure a smoother, faster, more reliable operation, and easy integration with various conveyor types.
Other significant features include:
- A worktable with backlash-free direct drive via servomotor integrated into the worktable.
- An ergonomically designed, leakproof enclosure design, with easy access to hydraulics, lubrication, pneumatics – and a coolant reservoir mounted right in the frame.
- SIEMENS 840D CNC controls and the latest Gleason software running in a true Windows® environment.
The GP300S/ES is just one of the new GP Series of Hobbers and Shapers, accommodating workpiece diameters up to 300 mm.
