                   The disadvantage of this is the fact that now there will be a small contact pat-
                   tern located in the center of the spline face width. The advantage is that the
                   interference is reduced and that the small contact patterns will only travel small
                   amounts towards the ends of the spline if misalignment is applied which will
                   reduce the friction.


                   15.6  Roof Top Spline

                   The  interference  problem  of  barrel  tooth  splines  is  shown  in  Figure  4  (red
                   graphs in center and bottom graphic. The solution to this problem is a roof top
                   shaped flank surface, as shown with the green graph in Figure 4. There is a
                   straight-line relief from the center of the face width to both sides. If the misa-
                   lignment is applied, then 50% of the spline flank surface has full contact. With-
                   out misalignment it appears as if the contact zone is just a line at the center of
