Aircraft Bevel Gear Grinding Development

Course Description:

This course will provide theoretical and practical instruction in the grinding development of spiral bevel gearing. First and second order development changes and inspection procedures, terminology, machine descriptions and problem troubleshooting will all be covered in this program.

 

Tentative Outline of Class Topics:
  • Terminology and nomenclature for gear grinding
  • Test machine movements
  • Roll testing of bevel gears
  • Description of the PHOENIX® 275PG or 400PG Grinder
  • Inspection of ground gear teeth
  • Discussion of objectives of pinion grinding development
  • Demonstration of development changes
  • Utilizing Metrology G-AGE™ Inspection outputs in Bevel Grinding
  • Production considerations for ground tooth gearing
