This program is intended for any skilled trade and/or person who is new or has limited experience in hobbing.
Tentative Outline of Class Topics:
Cylindrical gear nomenclature and terminology
Overview of Gleason Hobbing Machine axis, cycles and summary inputs.
Drive diagrams and the associated control system.
Overview of the auxiliary units of Gleason Hobbing machines including the automation, hydraulic, lube and coolant systems.
Inspection of primary gear parameters to include blank and gear tooth tolerances, gear inspection procedures and gear inspection terms.
Review of the factors which affect gear quality including the machine, tooling, hob cutter, and gear blank. Identification of basic troubleshooting criteria and the appropriate personnel responsible for diagnosing problem areas.
