GH_SphericHoning
A Calculation Program for Gear Honing
This program, GH_SphericHoning, was developed to provide you with support when using the honing process. It is used for ascertaining the process data and the machining time for Spheric honing of workpieces with external gearing using internally geared honing wheels. Furthermore, it supplies fundamental values for studying the economic efficiency of this process.
The program runs under Windows and resembles other Windows applications in terms of how it is operated and used. The screen layout is divided into an input area and a result display.
The possible applications for this program are, on the one hand, as a planning instrument for process and production planning and, on the other hand, for process optimization in production or work preparation.
The program delivers initial characteristic values for planning purposes, which can be used to estimate whether power honing can be employed efficiently. Only by knowing and entering the workpiece gearing data is it possible to:
- approximate initial suitable tool data,
- suggest sensible values for allowance, runout and pitch,
- calculate proposed process data for the machine,
- ascertain the resulting machining time,
- estimate the workpiece output between two dressing intervals, and
- ascertain the number of dressing operations which can be performed using
a tool.
This means you can undertake process studies and variant calculations yourself as early as the planning phase. In production and work preparation/production planning, these analyses can be used for targeted process and production sequence optimization of existing honing applications and production sequences. This is because the effects of the changes can be estimated in advance. Calculating the process data makes the task of setting up the machine easier and helps to avoid incorrect entries.
