Coniface™ Face Gears Cutting and Grinding
The face gear manufacturing methods of the past are either slow or require expensive tools and dedicated machine tools, which are not readily available. Computer tool to calculate and optimize face gears are also not publically available. The new Gleason Coniface™ calculation and manufacturing system changes this. The calculation allows the optimization of all parameters and uses geometrical phenomenon that have been developed just to account for the requirements and obstacles in face gear development. Machine settings are calculated for standard Gleason Phoenix cutting and grinding machines. Soft cutting is performed with standard CONIFLEX®Plus cutter heads and grinding is possible with CBN coated steel disks. The Coniface™ Webinar will shed some light on this modern and efficient way to manufacture high quality face gears.
