Gleason Plastic Gears

Klaus Kremmin II, the President of Syntec Custom Injection Molding Inc., sells Syntec to found a company that can compete with offshore molders by designing and building an automated lights-out operation with the most advanced electric molding machines and inspection equipment focused primarily on precision plastic gear and gear assembly manufacturing.

K2 Plastics was founded by Mr. Kremmin, an MIT mechanical engineering graduate to be a premier design and manufacturer of precision injection molded plastic gears servicing the electronic and medical industries. The facility is located in Bergen, NY in a 90,000 sq. ft. custom building.

K2’s development of its proprietary technology to injection mold gears without weld-lines and requiring no secondary machining. This led to K2’s ability to manufacture the most accurate, strong and quiet injection moldable gears with the least amount of residual stress while being much more economical than any disk-gated method requiring post machining of the disk-gate.

K2 Plastics acquires a Gleason Metrology MicroTop analytical gear checker to preform elemental gear checks on their production. This enhances an already strong inspection department which contains a Mahr 896 double-flank roll tester and Optical Gaging Products automated vision inspection station.

The Gleason Works acquisition of K2 Plastics enabling Gleason to enter the plastic gearing market and truly offering its worldwide customer base a Total Gearing Solution.

GK2 purchased Kisssoft gear design software as their premier design tool for designing optimized gear systems. Kisssoft is the reference standard for plastic gear design software. It is used to provide GK2’s customers with the strongest, quietest, smoothest and longest lasting gears available when coupled with GK2’s no weld-line technology.
